Born: Born in Pomona, California, on April 28, 1981.
Discovered: Born into a military family, Jessica took her first acting class at age 12 and was signed by an agent soon after. In 1993, she made her feature film debut in the comedy Camp Nowhere, getting the part because her hair colour matcehd the lead actress' who suddenly dropped out.
Resume: After her lucky movie break, Jessica was featured in two national TV commercials for Nintendo and J.C. Penney. She found more success on TV, with a recurring role in Nickelodeon's popular comedy series 'The Secret World of Alex Mack'. In 1995, she won the role of Maya in 'Flipper' and began shooting the TV series based on the movie. The role, lasting until 1997, was ideal for Alba, who is an avid swimmer and PADI-certified scuba diver. She went on to guest star on several TV shows, including in two episodes of 'Beverly Hills, 90210' as Leanne and in two episodes of 'The Love Boat: The Next Wave'. Leaving acting behind for a bit she took on modeling, appearing in 'Teen Magazine' and various European magazines, as well as being featured in 'Vanity Fair' in 1999. In that same year her movie career took off with substantial roles in Never Been Kissed and Idle Hands. In 2000, Alba became a celebrity with her lead role in the hit TV series, 'Dark Angel'. Alba also found stardom with 2003's, Honey, playing a tough music video choreographer. 2005 has proven to be Alba's year, first with her role, alongside the star-filled cast, as the sexy stripper in Sin City, and recently with the summer blockbuster hit, Fantastic Four as the super-powered Sue Storm. Her upcoming projects include Into the Blue, about a group of divers who are in trouble with a drug lord after they come upon the illicit cargo of a sunken airplane, and Sonic, about a young waitress.
